I am making chai. Indian grocery store black tea (Red Label), cardamoms, cinnamon stick, and peppercorns. With milk put in afterwards.

It's my modification of the chai recipe of a genuine Indian grandmother.

Well, I forgot to bring my own to work today so I'm drinking something someone got out of a British themed gift basket. Ahmad Tea - London - English Breakfast. Its okay, but I'd rather be drinking loose green.

    Happy New Year!

      well, let's see...

      golden dragon oolong from Peet's.
the decaf english breakfast from peaberry's
a green I found from an importer in Pleasanton or Livermore - forget the name.

I found a box of PG Tips - the pyramid bags - PG Tips is what I drank 90% of the time when I lived in England. It doesn't taste as good as I remember (I know..DUH!)

or did you mean right this instant?

you don't know if they sell empty pyramid tea bags, do you? i've been looking around a bit and I don't seem to be able to find them. It would be great if you could fill them with your own tea so you know what was being put into them.

So, now I'm drinking "Organic Ancient Emerald Lily," harvested from thousand-year-old trees in the 1300 year old Jing Mai Mountain ancient tea forrest in Yunnan China and imported to the US of A by Rishi Tea Comapny.

It is superb -- far and away the best green I have yet found.

you know, even though in my neighborhood grocery store they just about pay you to take the swee-touch-nee out of there, it's so cheap -- it's so good. i like it particularly in a hot toddy with some whiskey, lemon, clove and honey... mmmm.

            Daria,

Yep! I agree. good price too! It tastes exacly like what is often served in chinese restaurants.

I must pass along a discovery I made when emptying out these tea bags into the wire basket of my teapot. Many brands of tea bags have this same issue: the tea leaves are in pieces, sometimes even forming a powder! This tea actually works better in the tea bag it is sold in. Compared to full leaf loose tea I have become dissapointed with many popular teas that are sold in bags. The tea bag is in fact a way they can visually hide what they are selling. It may be a way that these companies make a profit from bottom-of-the-barrel materials.

Yay Jasmine! Any other jasmine-green recommendations are also welcome!

              Hey Damien -

My girlfriend went to Rainbow yesterday and they have *Organic* Jasmine Green, on sale for $2.50/box! It's in bags, but still exciting. Mighty Leaf has one also, but it's only in their Green Tea Assortment box. Peet's may still be my favorite, and they have it loose and bagged.

              Enjoy!

              - Billie (happily drinking lots more Jasmine Green now, with less caffeine! Thanks Tea Fiends!)

                Hey Billie!

I also bought some Jasmine at Rainbow the other day, but its loose, not in bags. Its really good though. Its in the bulk herb section near the teas. Its called Two Hills Jasmine and its $44.95/lb. Very good stuff. I usually get Jasmine Jazz from Rep. of Tea, when I can find it, but this is comperable, so I'm psyched!

                Happy jasmine tea drinker,
                Sandi

I'm enjoying my Paul Sweet House Chia, a blend of freshly crushed cardamon seeds, husks removed of course, gratted og ginger and a tad of tumeric, one anise pod and a little African Bird cayanne, one full cinammon stick, and one Ethopian clove simmered all day, added to a small pot of stinky strong black tea who's name escapes me right now, a few drops of vanilla, a squirt of Agave nector and a splash of Almond milk, steeped there 4 minutes and 20 seconds and poured through the air into my favorite butterfly mug, sipped along with my favorite chalise to some super cool DJ Fresh middle eastern jazz/breakbeat on KZSC, yeah today is a good day, didn't even have to use my AK. See you all Wednesday at the Attic tea ceramony, 11am til 5pm, althoough we went til almost 6 we were having so much fun last week. Jah Steep knows his tea lore and more.
